Bible Studies: At St. John's we believe that as we study God's word together, we share our knowledge, experience God's love and grow in our faith. We believe that God's Holy Spirit leads us as we share our understanding of His word with one another.
2009 Fall Bible Studies
Monday Nite Quarterback: All men are invited to the parsonage at 1000 Foster Drive each Monday evening at 7 p.m. for an informal, in-depth Bible study. The material used is the pervious sermon. We will look at more Scripture and intereact regarding how we can actually apply the message to our daily lives.
Invitation to the New Testament: a Short-Term Disciple Bible Study: Mondays 7-8:30 pm led by Carmen Rickel; Wednesdays 6:30-8 pm led by Robert Oates. This high commitment Bible study is modeled after the basic design of Disciple Bible Study and is designed for those busy people who are unable to commit to longer studies. Who is Jesus and what is his significance for our lives? Participants are invited to study anew the story of Jesus and to learn more about their calling to discipleship and to community. Weekly group meetings at the church include video segments to guide each session with interpretive presentations from biblical scholars; contextual presentations and roundtable discussions; and opportunities for reflection, contemplation, or inspiration on some aspect of the Scripture studied.
Digging Deeper - Lord, Teach Us: Wednesdays 10-11:30 am led by Carmen Rickel; Wednesdays 6:30-8 pm led by David luckert. Ever thought to yourself that you would like to explore the topic that was preached on Sunday morning a little more? Then this 10 week study is a great opportunity for you. During this time David and Carmen will be preaching on the Lord's Prayer and during that those 10 weeks you will have the opportunity to dig a little deeper into each topic as we study, Lord, Teach Us: The Lord's Prayer and the Christian Life.
Bible 101: Mondays 7:15-8:15 pm led by Alex Zeisig. All youth are invited to participate in Bible 101, getting a grasp on what the Bible is and an understanding of how to study and learn from it.
