Meet Our Staff
Eric Ryburn, Senior Pastor
Rev. Eric Ryburn was appointed senior pastor of St. John's United Methodist Church, Richmond in 2011. Eric is a native of Lexington, Illinois and moved to Texas to attend graduate school at Texas A&M. Eric has a bachelor's degree in physics from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Upon answering his call to ministry, Eric attended and eventually graduated with an M.Div. from Brite Divinity School at TCU in Fort Worth. He was ordained elder in June 1999 and has served small and large churches in the Texas Annual Conference since 1995. Eric and his wife, Paula, have one daughter, Audrey, who is 11.
Carmen Rickel, Associate Pastor
Reverend Carmen Rickel was born in Nebraska but grew up just down the road on the southwest side of Houston. She answered her call to ministry as an active participant and leader at the Wesley Foundation while attending Texas A&M University. After graduating with a BS in Sociology she attended Brite Divinity School at TCU where she obtained her Masters of Divinity. Her first appointment was close to home in Orchard, TX. Carmen is passionate about missions, which has taken her into the prisons, down to Belize, across the ocean to Africa, and to many communities in Texas to share the love of Jesus Christ. Alex Zeisig,Youth Director
Alex is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. He has a passion for youth and their families, desiring all to come into a deeper relationship with each other and Christ. He grew up in Huntsville as one of four boys. While in college he got involved in the Texas Wesley and began working at Bethany UMC in North Austin. Tim Benson, Director of Music Ministries
Having grown up at St. John's, Mr. Benson joined the staff as Youth Director in 1991 and became Director of Music Ministries in 1996. Since that time Mr. Benson has developed an exciting and growing music ministry touching all ages from children to adults. Mr. Benson has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Houston Baptist University. tim.benson@stjohnsumc-richmond.org
Diane Walker, Children's Minister
Ms. Walker joined the staff as the Children's Minister in 2011 after having served as a Sunday School teacher for the preschool class and growing the class from 3 to approximately 25 children. Her love of children, energy, innovation and willingness to allow God to lead her in this role have made her an excellent addition to the staff. diane.walker@stjohnsumc-richmond.org
Claudia Dyle, Accompanist and Adult Handbell Choir Director
Ms. Dyle joined the staff of St. John's in 1999. An accomplished organist and pianist, Ms. Dyle brings to St. John's many musical gifts that add to the worship experience. Ms. Dyle also teaches at the Houston School of Performing and Visual Arts and performs in various venues throughout the Houston area. church.office@stjohnsumc-richmond.org
Melissa Rocha, Church Office Administrator
Ms. Rocha joined the St. John's staff in 2005. Although a "new comer" compared to some other staff members, Ms. Rocha has established herself as one who can always be counted on to get things done. In addition to coordinating office activities, she functions as a receptionist, always welcoming anyone and helping them find what they need. melissa.rocha@stjohnsumc-richmond.org
Linda Steele, Wedding Coordinator
Ms. Steele has been coordinating weddings at St. John's since 1991. Her experience as well as knowledge of vast resources is invaluable to families as they plan their weddings. church.office@stjohnsumc-richmond.org
Wanda Burkett, Director, St. John's Little School
Mrs. Burkett became Director of St. John's Little School in 2001 after having taught in the Little School since 1996. Mrs. Burkett has a warm and caring approach to children as they grow and learn. director@stjohnslittleschool.org
Bunnie Moore, Coordinator of the Nursery
Mrs. Moore brings that loving grandmother spirit of caring to St. John's nursery. Having worked in the nursery since 2002, St. John's families can always count on her for the special love that every child deserves. church.office@stjohnsumc-richmond.org
Lupe Garcia, Head Nursery Attendant
Ms. Garcia joined the St. John's staff in 2008 has a special way of showing her love for children. She retired from the Richmond State Supported Living Center as a Home Supervisor after twenty eight years. She still goes and visits with the patients.
Brenda Garcia, Nursery Attendant
Ms. Garcia joined the St. John's staff in 2011 and brought with her many years of experience with small children. Her warm and loving nature makes children comfortable with her very quickly.
Felipe Munoz, Head Custodian
Mr. Munoz joined St. John's staff in 2006 and has the difficult job of maintaining the entire church facility. He is always willing to help any way he can on special projects and events and does it with a cheerful spirit. church.office@stjohnsumc-richmond.org
Chris Munoz, Custodian
Mr. Munoz joined St. John's staff in 2010. He is very dedicated to his job and works hard to ensure our building and grounds are kept in excellent condition. church.office@stjohnsumc-richmond.org
